Mgk's Tickets to my downfall album review

Tickets to my downfall is the fifth studio album by American musician Machine gun kelly which was released on September 25, 2020. It was his first full pop-punk album after 4 consecutive hip-hop album. Tickets to my downfall was produced by none other but the pop-punk icon Travis Barker himself.

The album's first track titled 'title track' is one of the best opening track for an album. It has soft acoustic guitar, barker's mind-blowing drumming and mgk's rapsy type of voice with cheesy lines ( If I am a painter, I'd be a depression-ist ). Drunk face track gives a chill vibe type of music where mgk sings " I'm still young wasting my youth " and also talks about his relationships. In the track 'bloody valentine'(won VMA on the category of best alternative 2020) the drum fill and catchy chorus add spice to the song. The track 'All I know' is a hip-hop influenced track. It's no surprise that mgk is a hip-hop artist. In the track, 'lonely' mgk talks about his life-changing personal losses and also share his late father voice records at the end of the song. Trippie Redd, Blackbear, Hasley and Iann Dior are featured in the album.

'Concert for aliens' is a straight throwback to the 2000s pop-punk era which gives a nostalgic feeling where mgk sings ' The headline says the world is over,  whatever happens to the fairytale ending '. The interlude 'Kevin and Barracuda' features mgk's best friend Pete Davidson where they have a funny conversation. The Banyan tree interlude features mgk's girlfriend Megan Fox where they have a dark/romantic conversation that ends with a short song. The album ends with the track ' Play this when I am gone ' in which mgk is leaving a message for his daughter( like a suicide note ) after he is gone where he sings ' I am not gonna lie and tell you it's alright, you're gonna cry and baby that's alrightt.'

I think the overall album is really good and this was mgk's first transition from hip-hop to pop-punk which gives him a lot of credit and it was also the 2020's first no. 1 rock album in Billboard 200. The drumming and producing by Travis Barker were godly. The album lacks lyrical content but made up by pop melodies and catchy rock choruses.  I would give the album a rating of 7.5/10 and my favourite track from the album is ' lonely ' which gives me goosebumps.
